What the check covers

Record of processing activities, data processing agreements, deletion concept, technical and organisational measures. We check what exists and what is missing – without providing legal advice.

A report you can also use to evaluate third-party offers
The action plan is worded so that it can serve as a basis for requirements: if you want to obtain quotes – from us or elsewhere – you can adopt the points directly. This is intentional. A report only its author can read would be of no value to you.
It also includes an assessment of the investments due within the next two years regardless, because hardware is ageing or contracts are expiring. Experience shows this overview is what helps most in budget discussions.

Digitalisation starts with an honest stocktake
The most common cause of failed digitalisation initiatives is an unclear starting point. Investments are made before it is known which systems are actually in use, which contracts are running, where data is stored and which workflows would be affected by a change. The digitalisation check closes this gap. It does not offer a promise for the future, but a reliable picture of the current state – and from that, a sequence that takes technical dependencies into account.
Typical findings from practice
- Backups run, but have never been restored. Only the test case shows whether a restore actually works and how long it takes.
- Access accounts of former employees are still active. An organisational problem, not a technical one – and fixable within a few days.
- Knowledge is concentrated in one person. If they are absent, no one knows how a system is set up. Documentation is unspectacular, but effective.
- Software is paid for but barely used. Licence reviews regularly reveal ongoing costs with no corresponding value.
- Digitalisation without process change. A digitalised paper process remains a cumbersome process – just as a PDF.
What the check is not
It is not a penetration test and not a certification audit against a standard. If you need a formal audit to ISO 27001 or a technical attack simulation, we will say so in the initial consultation and name suitable specialists. Nor does it replace legal advice on data protection matters – we establish what is documented and what is missing, and the legal assessment remains with your data protection officer or law firm.
And afterwards?
You decide whether and with whom to implement. If you commission us, the check is fed into the planning and is not billed again. For ongoing operations, Managed IT is often the right model afterwards, and for larger initiatives our project management. If your questions focus more on workflows and organisation than on technology, the potential analysis is the more suitable format.
